For the first time ever, the class of 2020 results are not based on exams. This means that teachers were asked to use their professional judgement and estimate a grade based on the students performance. This was then moderated and categorized by the SQA.If you were affected by this and have received a lower grade than anticipated, there is a free appeals process available to help you get the results you were aiming for.
It’s a similar story in the rest of the UK with summer exams cancelled. A-levels will be marked based on an anticipated grade of a student. Schools have sent two pieces of information for each subject to standardise the given grade. However if students are not happy with their results they will be able to appeal through their institution or resit exams in autumn.
